What SFOM Offers

Being a member of SFOM means belonging to a supportive community of other families who can relate to the unique experiences that come with having twins, triplets or more! As a group, we offer a wide array of programming, events and resources to help families connect, learn about life with multiples, share their stories, cope with challenges and play and laugh together! Check out our Events page to see what SFOM events are coming up.

Below is an overview of the great programming that an SFOM membership entitles you to:

Consignment Sale for Clothing and Gear

Over sixty SFOM families hold a twice per year consignment sale of their gently used children’s clothing and equipment, with items ranging from preemie to pre-teen. Shopping is open to the public, however, current SFOM members get early-entrance. Visit our sale page for the latest information.

Family Events

SFOM hosts many family-friendly events, including our annual pumpkin patch outing, winter pool party, spring egg hunt, summer picnic,  annual camp-outs and more. Most events are free or reduced-cost to members and include activities for children of all ages.

Meetups, Playdates and Outings

Through frequent organized tours, playground outings, and gatherings at members’ houses, SFOM members have many opportunities to meet other parents and provide social interaction for their kids.  Most playdates and outings are open to kids of all ages and siblings are always welcome.

Are you interested in hosting a playdate or meetup in your home or neighborhood? We are always looking for hosts to help organize and host events throughout Seattle. Hosting duties are easy; all you need to do is to commit to attend your event, greet club members, and help make everyone feel welcome. You choose the location and time that works for you! This is a great way to give back to the club AND make new friends with families of multiples. If you would like to host a playdate or outing, please email info@seattlemultiples.org, or join our members-only SFOM Meetups Facebook group.

Year One Program

The Year One program is a wonderful way to get tried-and-true information and advice to guide you through the unique experience of pregnancy with and raising of multiples, as well as a great way to make acquaintance with other parents of multiples. The monthly Year One meetings are held in Seattle and there is no fee for members or potential members to attend our Year One meetings. This is a great way to come find out more about SFOM if you have questions before you join. For more information, visit our Year One Program page.

SFOM PEMS Groups: Providing Early Multiples SupportPEPS Network Logo

SFOM is a member of the PEPS Network™.  We offer small age-base groups for families with multiples, targeting adjusted age 0-3 months, which are based on the model for parent peer-support groups used by PEPS – The Program for Early Parent Support™. The eight-week long SFOM PEMS (Providing Early Multiples Support) Program is offered multiple times per year. For more information, visit our PEMS page.

Club Gatherings

Throughout the year, SFOM hosts club gatherings organized around a particular topic or speaker. At the meeting we may briefly review club business and will provide time for members to socialize and foster connections.

Parents-Only Activities

We know that getting out of the house for adults-only interaction in a huge part of maintaining your sanity as a parent of multiples. Currently, SFOM facilitates a book club and offers occasional meetups for dads, parents with “Multiples Plus” other children, as well as Parents Night Out meetups at local restaurants and breweries.

Parent Connection Resources

Sometimes you just need to talk to someone who’s “been there.” Seattle Families of Multiples members with special expertise or knowledge related to raising multiples have volunteered to share their contact information and act as go-tos on our Parent Connection Lists, which are accessible by members via BigTent.

Sunshine Meals

Another great service offered by SFOM is our Sunshine Meal program. We know how hard it is to find time to sleep or eat when you have newborns. We try to make life a little bit easier by delivering a delicious, nutritious and ready-to-eat meal to the homes of new parents and other families in need.

Sunshine Meals are prepared and delivered by our members. If you would like to share your time and provide a meal to a fellow member, please email info@seattlemultiples.org.

Preemie Closet

SFOM provides our members with free access to our Preemie Closet to borrow preemie clothes. This is a great resource since many multiples need preemie-sized clothing, but only for a short time — or you may not know until they’re home whether they need it or not. Twins and higher order multiples are generally at a higher risk of being born prematurely and at a lower birth weight. Fortunately, with help of new technologies, preemies do very well and grow quickly. Small babies do require preemie clothes although they grow out of them quickly. These clothes can be hard to find and expensive.

We have a large supply of preemie clothing. Mostly sleepers and onesies, but also shirts, pants, gowns, hats, sleep sacks, and diaper covers (both preemie and newborn size diaper covers).

Contact info@seattlemultiples.org to borrow clothes, to return clothes that you’ve borrowed (don’t worry if it has been a long time!) or to make donations.

The Preemie Closet depends on the donations and generosity of our members and others.

Online Forum

One of the most valuable benefits of membership is access to our online BigTent forum. Here members can post questions and exchange ideas. Members also have access to our message archive, which is full of invaluable information about childcare, breastfeeding, schools, rainy day activities and just about everything in between.

In addition to the discussion forum, BigTent access also includes a calendar of our upcoming events, free classifieds, our membership roaster and Tent Mail.
